Waterloo & South Bank

I represent Waterloo & South Bank on Lambeth Council. My job is to work with residents on the issues that shape everyday life here: noise, antisocial behaviour, housing, dumped rental bikes, pavements, public spaces, policing, transport and the pressures facing local businesses.

What I am working on locally

  • Stop the Noise — stronger police action and a lasting solution to excessive motorbike and vehicle noise.
  • Safer streets — enforcement, patrols and partnership with residents, the police and City Hall.
  • Better public spaces — protecting pavements, gardens and shared spaces, including Emma Cons Gardens, Lower Marsh and the streets around Waterloo station, from dumped rental bikes, fly-tipping and neglect.
  • Housing and casework — helping residents who need the council, a landlord or a local service to act.
  • Independent businesses — backing the high street, hospitality and local employers.

Our Stop the Noise campaign has secured stronger action from the Metropolitan Police, including targeted operations, patrols, CCTV and the seizure of motorcycles. That has made a real difference, but the problem has not disappeared. I am continuing to press for better signage, a potential Public Spaces Protection Order, environmental measures and sustained enforcement.

I have also arranged for the Leader of Lambeth Council to visit Waterloo & South Bank to hear residents’ concerns directly, and I have been working to involve Cabinet members and the Deputy Mayor for Policing.

Waterloo now has a new, larger library at 30 Wootton Street, SE1 8AZ, replacing the previous service at the Oasis Centre.
