Good news for residents, businesses and everyone travelling through Waterloo.

Following the emergency gas escape and major repair works outside The Old Vic, Waterloo Road has now reopened to traffic in both directions.

SGN is continuing with the final phase of work on the northbound side of the road, opposite The Old Vic, to decommission an old gas main. These works are being carried out under a lane closure and are expected to be completed by 25 October. Two-way traffic will remain in place during this period.

Please continue to take extra care in the area, as there are temporary narrow lanes, changes to pedestrian routes and some bus stop arrangements while the final works are finished.

Thank you to residents, businesses, visitors and road users for your patience during what has been a lengthy and disruptive period. I know the closure had a significant impact on the local community, and I am pleased to see the road largely back to normal operation. 🚶🚲🚌🚗
