Following our Stop the Noise campaign, Lambeth Council is preparing costed proposals for measures to help prevent vehicles parking on pavements near the London Eye, including around Jubilee Way and Belvedere Road.
At a site meeting on 7 October, I joined council officers, Cabinet Member Cllr Jonathan Bartley, South Bank Employers’ Group and London Eye representatives to discuss possible solutions. Options being explored include planters, benches and crash blocks, alongside other access and traffic-calming measures.
Council officers are reviewing the proposals and are expected to circulate further details on Monday 19 October. Any plans will need to take account of access and operational requirements in the area, including those of the London Eye.
This work is part of our ongoing efforts to reduce pavement parking, noise and antisocial behaviour and make the area safer and more pleasant for residents and visitors. I will share a further update when the proposals are available.
