The southbound section of Waterloo Road between the IMAX and The Cut has reopened following road reinstatement on 13 October.
Work outside The Old Vic is progressing and is scheduled to finish by 19 October, when the road is expected to be fully reinstated and reopened. Crews are also replacing a smaller section of gas main beneath the footpath. Equipment for this work is being stored in the northbound lane opposite Gray Street and Baylis Road until the replacement is complete.
The project team says the additional work is being carried out now to reduce the likelihood of further disruption in the near future. The overall replacement programme is expected to take around two weeks, shorter than the usual four weeks for work of this size. Lambeth Highways and Thames Water have also coordinated related works during the road closure.
Thank you to residents, businesses and road users for your patience while these essential works are completed.
