Update: London Fire Brigade Headquarters at 8 Albert Embankment

Dear Residents,

I am writing to share an important update regarding the London Fire Brigade’s (LFB) headquarters at 8 Albert Embankment. Planning permission has now been granted for the site's redevelopment, marking a significant step forward for the area.

Construction is expected to begin shortly, with the project slated for completion in 2029. This redevelopment will bring several benefits to our community, including:

  • Modernized Facilities: A new, long-term headquarters for the LFB and improvements to the existing Lambeth Fire Station.
  • Community Space: The creation of new, dedicated community space for local groups to use.
  • Heritage Preservation: The establishment of a new home for the Brigade’s historic collection and the Memorial Hall.
  • Site Integration: Plans also include a new entertainment venue at the neighbouring Lambeth High Street site, and the return of the Newport Street site to operational use to support the Lambeth River Fire Station.

The LFB has confirmed their commitment to ongoing engagement with local residents, businesses, and stakeholders throughout the project.

Contact Information

If you have specific questions or concerns regarding the redevelopment, please reach out to the LFB Public Affairs team, who are managing communications for this project. Their email address is [email protected].

I will continue to provide updates as major developments occur.

Best wishes,
