Ahead of the 2025 British Kebab Awards, I spoke to NationalWorld, whose interview appeared in BirminghamWorld and other local titles, about why I started the awards in 2013.

The aim was always to put the kebab industry on the map and give a voice to one of Britain’s fastest-growing food sectors. I wanted the people working so hard in these businesses, from small takeaways to large restaurants, to be appreciated and rewarded.

We also talked about the state of the industry today and, of course, what makes a truly great kebab.
